The Karama Theory part 2: Decoding three Types of Karma , Manasa, Vacha and Karmana astrologically based on the principles of Swami Sivananda Saraswati
There are mainly three ways an individual performs Karma.
'मनसा-वाचा-कर्मणा ' (Mind-Speech-Action)
मनसा कर्मणा वाचा न च काड्क्षेत पातकम्
We perform acts or deeds every moment in our life through following ways:
In several Indian languages, these three words are together used to describe a state of consistency expected of an individual. The motto Manasa, Vaacha, Karmana is usually invoked to imply that one should strive to achieve the state where one's thoughts, speech and the actions coincide.
(Wikipedia)
'मनसा-वाचा-कर्मणा ' (Mind-Speech-Action) - The Three Stages
The first ('मनसा'; English: Mind) Stage begins when one decides and begins to discriminate in a detached and unprejudiced manner between right and wrong after through pondering and contemplation - and then develops faith in what one has decided to be right. Even at this stage one is a step ahead of those who have not reached or crossed this stage.
The second ('वाचा'; English: Speech) stage is when one discusses about, shares, espouses and stands for which has been ascertained by it to be right. At this stage one is yet not perfect as it is not practising what it is preaching.
The third and final ('कर्मणा'; English: Action) stage is when one practices what one holds to be right. It is here that one's behavior changes for the better in to and one becomes great.
Understanding Mansa, Vacha and Karma astrologically
1) Mansa - Mind - (Karka Moon, 4th House, and Strength of 4th lord)
All the acts which are done in our Sub-conscious area are categorized in Manasa). Affliction in 4th house, 4th Lord or moon is weakly placed in D1 , D9 , D30 and D60 chart via any Malefic planets i,e Rahu (Mean or Immoral Desires), Saturn (Suffering to others) and by Mars (Hurting other emotions or Treating others bad either via applying physical force or having violence or aggression with women's or elder women's) can gives accumulating of bad Manasa Karma. Moon is about what we think and what we wanted to do and what is stored in our brain sub-conscious corner to feel good or bad, or to enjoy and to get comfort or get hidden happiness gives birth of Sub-conscious karma. Rahu is the key holder here and can disturb your Manasa karma at much greater level.
More the Moon is afflicted, more you have to suffer via others either by emotional hurting or via people who can become the reason of your pain.Moon with Rahu (Karka of mother and home - home environment and maternal health, which means there will be an issue in Karaka of the mother). Maybe somehow you be the reason of suffering to older women in past birth, which gives suffering via them or you be the reason to see the suffering of the mother in this birth.
What is evil running in your mind or what level of emotional suffering you have to face or have to gone is seen from the D30 chart and affliction of moon in D1 i.e those who do murders or do killing or those who got fall prey of action of rape, check their D30 chart and Affliction of Venus, Moon and D30 Lagana and its Lord and 6th Lord in both D1 and D30.
2) Vacha - Speech - (Karka Mercury)
All the acts which are done in presence of our conscious mind or through our own decisions, logic's, calculations and mathematics for some mean and motives or by will or by own wish or by the bondage of desires are categorized in Karama Based on Vaachaa). The affliction of mercury in D1, D9, and D30 by Mars, Saturn and Rahu can give an arrogant and rude speech which can hurt others at any moment.so, always watch your speech.
3) Karmana – Actions - (Karka Mars and Saturn)
All the acts which we actually in physical reality or what we do for the fructification of our desires (Rahu) are categorized in Karmana). The affliction of Mercury, Mars, Saturn and 10th house/10th Lord in D1, D9, D30 and D60 by Rahu-Ketu Axis can give those actions which are motivated by hidden desires based on may be to physically hurt to others either by force or by the actions.
Definition of law of karma as explained by Sivananda Ji
"According to Swami Sivananda ji God does not make any one suffer for no reason nor does He make any one happy for no reason" , Its only the karma which decides our Happiness as well as suffering we saw, god only gives us reasons and opportunities to correct those mistakes which can yield into sufferings. "God is fair and gives you exactly what you deserve on the basis of your accumulated Karma", It is our sum total of Sanchit karmas which decides in current what we are going to face or see in next birth. Karma is not punishment or retribution but simply an expression or consequence of natural acts we do in material and physical world ", if one is able to survive via pious karmas one will rise else rest will still able to living in this illusionist material world to clear those karmic sufferings.
(Reference, Yogi Swami Sivananda Saraswati)
An Astrological Interpretation
"Although it may often appear us that karma is like a punishment or suffering (6th House or 6th Lord - Debit/Suffering Points) or (Reward/Credit Points/Bonus Points – 9th House), but in actual reality the purpose of Karma is to perfectly follow the cosmic law (God’s system of Universal operation) and not to punish or reward simply to understand the law of karma."Often the way we learn the best is to endure the same type of sufferings (8th House) that we have inflicted (or offered) on others in the past (Our Sanchit Karmas - most of the times in the past life.)
(Reference, Yogi Swami Sivananda Saraswati)
This is the God’s Way and Desire to make us leave the World of Maya (Rahu- The illusionist of worldly desire, the key player here indulging soul in desires ) - the practical world of desires ,"Veil of Ignorance or “mudhawastha” or stupefied state of mind – (Moon with Nodes) that brings us the sufferings and embrace the Divine Awareness (9th house - Karka Jupiter & Ketu -12th House of D1 & Navamsa Chart) and be blissful eternally.
(Reference, Yogi Swami Sivananda Saraswati)
"According to the Vedas, if one sows goodness, will reap goodness; if one sows evil, will reap evil, at the same time the delivery of consequences is controlled by the Divine. Karma refers to the totality of our actions ((Sum total) Sanchit Karama + This birth Karma - 10th House (Next Birth)) and their concomitant reactions in this (Root House 4th and 10th) and previous lives (Past Life - 9th house and Lord), all of which collectively determines our future (what we call as destiny- 9th to 9th house - Future of Future).
Karma, God, and Hinduism: Astrological signification
According to Hinduism God is fair and humans have a free will to choose good or bad, if he chooses good action, the cause will be good, if he chooses bad, the cause will be bad and collectively decide what is hidden in your destiny. Here we are Referencing to our day to day life Karmas (3rd from 4th house - 6th House and 6th lord - Karmas which are originated from our thoughts and are done practically via 10th house) which are free to do by our own Conscious mind.
Astrologically we should see Day to day task through involvement of 4th (Mana- thoughts) and 10th (Action which we are willing to do or having deep interest in it), Karka Saturn and should be seen from both 10th and 4th House combined
Natural Karka Sign of our action in Kaliyug is Capricorn Sign for both good or evil Karama's. These Karama's are Initiated because of our unfinished and leftover desires originated from the past and present birth senses i.e (11th to 9th house - 7th house - past birth desires which are left from past and 11th to Lagana for Current birth Desires, what we are doing to fulfil it- 2nd to 10th house -11th house feeding our desires via work, social circle and friends) in added Rahu and Saturn should be seen for "Root Reason or Root Cause of Desires " combinedly for fructification of all desires in this birth and the reason which gave next birth and Most important number of retrograde planets in Natal chart to estimate wholly-solely the reason of rebirth and desires which are present in our sub-conscious mind.
Number of Retrograde planets in Natal chart indicates what are the root reason of this birth, left over tasks or unfinished business from past.
9th house and Retrograde planets in Natal chart will tell you why Soul is born again, just to finish that task.
Placement of Rahu should be checked in D1, D9, D30 and D60 chart with the strength of 11th House or its lord in D1 for finding ' ROOT of PAST BIRTH 'and other supporting divisional charts.
In General, Practice stored desires should be seen through natural Karka sign(Aquarius) & 4th house(Karka of mind) and therefore, ultimately gives clues for the consequences of Karmas (good or bad – in our continuous next birth) according to their Karma in the past.
Karma initiates the entire cycle of cause and effect (i.e., the cycle called Sansara - Venus (Maya) Jivatma (Soul - Sun) cannot attain moksha (salvation) until the accumulated (Pra-rabdha) Karmas are completely exhausted by consuming them.
Karma is like a seed, most of the times Karma does not fructify immediately after the seed is sown.
We produce numerous Karmic seeds by our own actions { via Speech, thoughts and actions , so we should have to see whole chart in compositely.Simply check 10th from Mercury – for all the actions done via our Speech and conscious brain , i.e if you have 10th from Mercury is Mars - it Will produce a harsh speaker or quiet arrogant and rude speaker so directly or indirectly our Speech is playing a part of our karmas,10th from Moon – for all the actions done and initiated by our thoughts , i.e 10th from Moon - Jupiter will produce a pious person healer, very thoughtful, very knowledgeable or Spiritual motivator by directly influencing to the thoughts of the native and other people around them }.
Check 10th from Saturn - for all the actions we do in day to day tasks in every moment or every seconds – via desire, aversion, love, hatred, happiness, etc. Malefic in 10th from Saturn will undoubtedly produce, a positive or negative result, sooner or later when it come, according to the nature of the seed of action or Karama, if not in this life, then in some future life.
Bhagavad Gita says: "Mysterious is the path of action (karma)" The Law of Karma is inscrutable. It is difficult to say what sort of karmas will cause cancer and whether the fruit that you enjoy now is the result of one karma or a combination of several Karmas. It is difficult to tell whether the fruit that you enjoy now is the karma in the current birth or is it from the karmas in previous births (Sanchita karma).
Ripe karmas can produce fruits in the same birth under proper circumstances.
Karma is the principle of cause and effect, action and reaction, total cosmic justice and personal responsibility. It is very logical: what you sow is what you reap in the exact and precise measure (dispensed by the Divine according to the Cosmic principals.) Karma is as predictable as the laws of gravity: what is done to you is the net result of what you have done to others. He who hurts others has already hurt himself in the future. The most important unpredictable aspect of Law of Karma is the “Delivery” (or consequences) that are controlled by the Divine.
Karma begins to propel you as Soul on a personal journey through the universe. Karma ends when you have perfected yourself in the art of doing Karma without attachment and desires, purely in selfless form.
The ability to do Karma without attachment (without expectation of Karma-phala) can be attained by perfecting oneself on the path to the Divine by following various yogas as i have read in Bhagwad geeta –
1) Karma yoga - Doing Karama only for sake of Karama without any desire and fruits and the person who do Karama yoga of action without an attachment is Karam Yogi i.e Laganesh As Atmakarka in 9th house, Jupiter in With Atmakarka and Lagnesh in D1, Laganamsa in 10th from Atma-Karka (Karka-amsa) in D9 chart produce a Karam Yogi. These yoga’s are seen in Good and Pious soul who do karama for the sake of society and benefits of people.More Preciously Ketu or Jupiter in 10th from Karka-amsa in D9 also produce a yogi. if Ak in D9 in any pious Sign of Pisces or Sagittarius is in 10th from the Lagna-amasa a Karm Yogi will born to raise the level of Society.
2) Bhakti yoga - Yoga of love for the Divine and Ultimate God. We called it emotive bhakti based on the placement of moon in D9 especially seen from 4th from Karka- amsa or 12th from the Karka-amsa. People having Beneficial planets in 4th from Karka-amsa(mainly Moon, Venus, and Mercury) produces an emotive Bhakti. Moon is top in priority in emotive Bhakti yoga for divine mother love.
3) Gyan yoga - Yoga of knowledge and awareness. There are multiple combinations for this yoga and the best one is presence of Dhi-manta yoga (Lagnesh and 3rd Lord in any house) in D1 chart and presence of Bhadra Yoga in 1st house, Mercury in 1st house, Mercury-Jupiter Mutual Aspect or Mercury and Jupiter Conjunction or Mercury in 1st/5th and Jupiter in 9th house giving positive aspect from 9th house in D1 and Presence of Mercury or Jupiter in 4th from the Karka-amsa.
4) Siddha or Kundalini yoga - Yoga of divine consciousness. This is quite complicated yoga which I have seen in many Spiritual people who are beyond from this material world and hard to find.In My whole experience what I have found all the siddha purush have good Beneficial yogas in their 12th , 5th and 9th house house from D1, Mainly 12th house is seen for Siddha Yoga and 12th from Karka-amsa in D9 with influence of Guru in their grand trine positions (1, 5 and 9th houses). For Siddha yoga one should have strong Venus conjugated with Ketu or being aspected by Ketu with added aspect by Saturn on Venus produce a Strong Siddha purush yoga who can awake Kundalini shakti in their Chakras or devotee of Maha-Kalika or any of Dasha Mahavidya of Kalika. All the Worshippers or Devotees of Maa kalika , Maa Kamkhya and Maa Chamunda usually have these combinations.
5) Hatha yoga -Purification of the body and mind through Asanas and Pranayama.
6) Laya yoga - Yoga of meditating on interior energy centers.
7) Mantra yoga - yoga of Divine hymns or Sacred words, phrases, or syllables or any combination of these. For this yoga one Should have Strong planet in their 5th house in D1 (i.e Jupiter, Sun-Rahu indicates Strong hold on mantras Shakti, guru indicates knowledge of all form of divine mantra knowledge). 9th from Karka-amsa also produces good yoga of having getting dikshna from their guru in Mantra Shakti. All these planets (i.e Moon , Guru , Rahu , Venus) in 9th from Karka - Amsa produces good yogas of Mantra Shakti or Mantra Diksha from Diksha Guru.
Finally, we can say karma we do are only responsible for what be bring and what we carry on to next birth. We carry Karmic Baggage and Karmic Blessing depending on whether we have performed positive or negative actions in the past.
There are 6 types of actions which are responsible for our type of karmic blessings we carry or we suffer or what we get and from Horoscope all can be seen through the 6th house (House of Punishment, Debits, Past Sins and Actions).
In general, We called it 6 weaknesses of human (Shadripu's) which are responsible for beginning of any karma in our current birth actions. They are seen from native 6th house and 6th lord or Shatru-pada(GK) or A6 Arudha i.e if 6th lord is Moon – than native Weaknesses is ‘Moh or attachment ’ or emotional attachments could be the main indicator of beginning of karma for native connected with uncontrolled emotions.
They are:
1) Kama (Lust) - Venus and Mercury.
2) Krodh (Anger) – Rage/Grudge or uncontrolled anger – Mars.
3) Lobh (Desires) – Greed - Rahu.
4) Moh (Love of Attachment) - Attachment or emotional attachment- Moon.
5) Ahankar (Proud) – Ego- Sun and Rahu.
6) Mada (Arrogance) - Rigidity or Self-Centered - Saturn
Depending on our weaknesses we do our karma influenced by the gunas it has.
Our Karma has its root within the gunas we do, which one of the three subtle-components (Tri-Gunas - Sattwa, Rajo, Tamo) is predominant within us, it influences how we:
• React to situations (State of mind - Moon)
• Make decisions (State of Mercury and Lagnesh)
• Make choices (4th house and Moon)
• Live our lives (Perception from AL)
Tri-Gunas (Sattwa, Rajo, Tamo) are the driver behind the thought, thought is the driver behind the action (Karma). Karma is the driver behind the life (of cause and effect) that we live.
Tri-Gunas is the seed – Karma is the tree – Consequence of the Karma is the fruit that we are living today.
1) Satwik Gun (Karka is Guru & Ketu) = Satwik Karma = Satwik fruit = Person is more close to the God.
2) Tamo Gun (Karka is Rahu) = Tamasik Karma = Tamasik fruit = Person is far away from the God.
3) Rajo Gun ( Karka is Venus)= Rajsik Karma = Rajsik fruit = Person is more close to Material world and away from the God
Definition of Law of Karma as per Shiri “ Swami Sivananda Sarasvati - Spiritual Understanding of Karama:
"Karma is a Sanskrit term that signifies action or deed. Any physical or mental action is karma. Thinking is mental karma. Karma is the sum total of our acts, both in the present life and in the preceding births.
Karma means not only action, but also the result of an action. The consequence of an action is really not a separate thing. It is a part of the action and cannot be divided from it. The law of karma means the law of causation. Wherever there is a cause, there an effect must be produced. A seed is a cause for the tree, which is the effect. The tree produces seeds and becomes the cause for the seeds. The cause is found in the effect and the effect is found in the cause. The effect is similar to the cause. This is the universal chain of cause and effect which has no end.
No link in the chain is unnecessary. This world runs on this fundamental and vital law. This law is inexorable and immutable. This grand law operates everywhere in the physical and mental planes. No phenomenon can escape from the operation of this mighty law and all other laws of nature are subordinate to this fundamental law.
No event can occur without having a positive, definite cause at the back of it. The breaking out of a war, the rise of a comet, the occurrence of an earthquake or a volcanic eruption, the outbreak of an epidemic, thunder, lightning, floods, diseases of the body, fortune, misfortune, all have their definite causes behind them.
The grand law of causation includes the law of action and reaction, the law of compensation and the law of retribution. All these laws come under one general, all-embracing heading, namely, the doctrine of karma.
If there is an action, there must be a reaction. The reaction will be of equal force and of similar nature. Every thought, desire, imagination and sentiment causes reaction. Virtue brings its own reward; vice brings its own punishment. This is the working of the law of reaction. God neither punishes the wicked nor rewards the virtuous. It is their own karmas that bring reward and punishment. It is the law of action and reaction that brings the fruits. No one is blamed.
The law operates everywhere with unceasing precision and scientific accuracy. The law of action and reaction operates both in the physical and mental planes".
“If you take an individual life as an isolated event which begins with birth of the physical body and terminates with its death you cannot find any correct explanation or solution for the affairs of life. You will be groping in darkness and despair. Your present life is nothing, when compared with the whole soul-life. It is momentary - a mere fragment. If you want to find the cause or antecedent for anything, you will have to go deep into the affairs of the eternal soul-life. Then alone there will be perfect balance of cause and effect, antecedent and consequence. Life does not end with the disintegration of this physical body alone. There is reincarnation. There had been countless previous lives also. You will have to take into consideration the widest view of the life of the soul. Then you will find a perfect, satisfactory solution for all the intricate and complicated affairs of life. Every wrong action or crime brings its own punishment in accordance with the law of retribution".
"Remember that God is neither partial nor unjust. Remember that God is not responsible for the wealth of one man or the poverty of another. You suffer on account of your own wicked actions. There is nothing chaotic or capricious in this world. Things do not happen in this universe by accident or chance in a disorderly manner. They happen in regular succession and events follow each other in a regular order. There is a kind of definite connection between what is being done now by you and what will happen in the future. Sow always the seeds which will bring pleasant fruits and which will make you happy herein and hereafter.”
"The law of causation, the law of action and reaction, the law of compensation and the law of retribution - all operate together. He who hurts another man, hurts himself first ."
